Little Italy in Downtown San Diego

Located on the northwestern corner of downtown San Diego, Little Italy is steeped with a rich history and vibrant culture. Historically the heart of the local Italian population, the community's fate long depended on the area's tuna fishing industry for its vitality. The tuna industry has since gone, but in its place the neighborhood has transformed into some of the finest of San Diego living: bay views, fine food, art and cultural festivities.

A wide variety of festivals abound in the neighborhood throughout the year. Everything from art and car shows to stick ball tournaments can be found on the streets of Little Italy. They are usually a feast for the senses with authentic Italian food and entertainment. In addition, admission to the events is almost always free.

Little Italy is home to over 35 restaurants and cafes. Everything from Fine Dining to casual outdoor cafes provide visitors with the chance to experience some of the West Coast's best Italian cuisine. If you are in the mood for something else, other restaurants include Steak Houses, California Fusion, and Southwestern.
