San Diego Vacation Guide

San Diego is located in the southwest corner of the United States in the state of California and borders Baja, Mexico to the south. It is the 8th largest city in America and is situated on the west coast of America and is warm and pleasant near the coast. San Diego has beautiful coastlines and is mostly desert in the inland area.

San Diego and Tourism

San Diego is a huge tourist destination that attracts some 30 million people each year to its lovely shores. The great thing about San Diego is that it has great family attractions, teen age activities, exciting events for adults and great areas of relaxation and fun for senior citizens.

Seaworld

Seworld is a great theme park that has amazing Dolphin shows, Shamu's House of Douse, the SkyBlast fireworks celebration. It is a very intereactive experience that kids and adults will not soon forget. Seaworld is a great day trip for the family and is close to downtown San Diego. Zoo

The San Diego is acknowledged as among the vert best in the wholeworld. Want to see animals? The SD Zoo has nearly four thousand exotic animals from every corner of the world! Plants and Flowers? The zoo has a huge variety of flora that represents sixty five hundred different species! Among the most popular attractions are the Gorillas, Giant Pandas, Polar Bears, Tigers, Giraffes and Hippos.

Beaches

San Diego undoubtedly has some spectacular beaches. One of the best beaches is Windansea Beach in La Jolla. In the North County, Cardiff and Encinitas have some great beach that are great for families -- very calm and relaxing. Pacific Beach and Mission Beach are great beaches for the college and 20-something guys and girls. If you want to avoid the throngs of crowds on the weekends, head out to Coronado, where easy parking and a huge beach provide a carefree atmosphere.

Surfing

San Diego has over 50 miles of coast with a huge variety of coastal conditions and waves. In La Jolla, the rock reefs mean great waves for experienced surfers, although you need to always be mindful and respectful of the locals! For beginners, try your luck at La Jolla Shores out front of the Marine Room Restaurant where the small crowds in the morning and out of the way location make for an easy go out. Balboa Park

Balboa Park is one of the most popular tourist attractions in San Diego. Encompassing some 1200 acres, Balboa Park houses great museums and the cultural center near Dowtown San Diego. Within Balboa Park is the world famous San Diego zoo that was talked about above. Balboa Park has wonderful expanses of parks and lawns that are perfect for picnicing and weekend relaxing. There is a lawn bowling club and a wonderful fountain in the main plazza.

Gaslamp Quarter in Dowtown

The Gaslamp District is the heart of downtown San Diego. Five star restaurants, great cafes and bars, as well as fantastic night life make Fourth and Fifth Avenues in downtown a happening place. During a summer weekend night, the sidewalks are packed with vistors and locals alike.
